Earlier this year I offered a contest through my author Facebook page for chick lit readers. One question I asked was: What’s your favourite type of cake? With over 60 responses and approximately 25 types of cake mentioned, I reckon this is a fascinating representation of reader preferences! Here’s a chart showing all the cakes which were named at least twice: The winning cakes: Chocolate Carrot Coconut ; Cheesecake (tied) I suspect most of the respondents live in the US or Canada, so this is not a worldwide preference chart! Also, I did combine a few varieties of chocolate cake, and a few flavours of cheesecake. But I was intrigued to see so many cakes mentioned in total, including a few I’d never heard of, like Almond Joy and Funfetti cake. Plus I was reminded of some old favourites, like Black Forest cake and Pineapple Upside Down cake. Cake is a big part of my life and plays a huge role in my fiction too.
